Queen B’s Decree: Buckled in Barbwire was exactly the kind of read I’d been wishing for. A bit of a grumpy x sunshine dynamic, with an age gap, and a ‘fake marriage except oops he wants to make it real’ vibe. And he’s a cowboy. How could I resist?
It felt both lighthearted and emotional, not steering away from discussions on grief. But filled with enough one-liners and humorous dialogue that I never felt bogged down. And the chemistry between the two was there from the start. It was so obvious that Brody had fallen for the sunshine-y Paisley, even though he didn’t realize it until much later. Like sir, take a look in the mirror, it’s clear.
It’s a little unrealistic how accepting her family (and the whole town honestly) is about the impulse shotgun wedding, but meh, doesn’t really bother me enough to take away my enjoyment. I was hooked and couldn’t stop turning the pages.
Overall, I had such a fun time reading and I already want the next in the series.
