Read. Reign. Repeat.

The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst

Queen B’s Decree: Now this is the cozy fantasy of my dreams.

Kiera and her sentient spider plant, Caz, escape their big city after rebels after overtaken the monarchy and burned down the city. They flee to her late parents’ old cottage on a small island. And it’s there she meets her overly friendly neighbor, who doesn’t seem to get that she’s an introvert that doesn’t like to talk to people.

But of course, this is a small town and everybody helps everybody else and knows their business, so Kiera adapts.

The story itself was funny, cozy, and sweet with enough action and mystery happening to keep the story unfolding. The focus, of course, is Kiera learning how to adapt and survive and grow feelings for both friends and…more.

I loved The Spellshop and I couldn’t stop reading. It was so heartwarming and sweet and I want my own cactus that meeps. Such a perfect palate cleanser and I can’t wait for the next in the series.
