Second Quarter Comeback by Kendall Hale

Queen B’s Decree: You know I am always apprehensive when starting a second chance trope, but Kendall Hale came in clutch and allayed all my fears.

Camille and Killion meet while college students and spend a precious few months together before Killion breaks up with her, and it’s 14 years before they meet up again.

What is so good about Second Quarter Comeback is that Killion firmly accepts his mistakes of his youth. He’s persistent in wanting to apologize and make up for his past, and grabbing for a future with Camille. But when she has boundaries and asks for space, he respects her choices. A bit of groveling goes a long way with making me fall in love.

I love that Cam was successful and had fully lived her life without Killion, but just like him, she knew something had been missing. Neither sat around pining for the other, but it was clear neither had fully emotionally moved on.

Both families were a bit much (talk about some interference) but I enjoyed getting to know more of Killion’s siblings, and I’m ready for their stories!
