Queen B’s Decree: Fan Service felt like it was written for my teenage/young 20s self. The one that wrote fan fiction, that was obsessed with a fandom, spent hours browsing Pinterest for memes.
At first glance, this is a lighthearted and funny paranormal romance, where a washed-up actor becomes the werewolf he once played on TV, and he asks for help from the one woman who knows all the lore. But the more you read, the more complex it comes. Fan Service delves into feelings of hopelessness, of not fitting in, of constantly trying to prove yourself to someone (or even yourself). It just makes you feel.
And the romance really worked for me. No instalove, no body betrayal syndrome, just good old ‘falling in love’ with a werewolf.
I read this as an audiobook and the narrators slapped. I honestly couldn’t put it down and I was listening at all hours of the day. Overall, one of my favorite books this month!
