Queen B’s Decree: Man, Eva Chase really knows how to utilize a cliffhanger and make her readers wish for more.
A Dance of Shadows starts right after that massive cliffhanger in A Pact of Blood (side note: my flabbers are still gasted, just thinking about it). The political intrigue continues as Aurelia, her evil emperor husband, and her prince lovers are traveling the continent to meet all the different regions. Aurelia is trying to manage making the continent a better place while simultaneously escaping her evil husband’s wrath and sneak off for sexy interludes with her men.
The steam isn’t constant—Aurelia is dodging her husband and has to sneak away, after all—but when it happens, it’s nice and spicy. But it’s not all lust; they’ve all created a true emotional connection and protect and support each other wholeheartedly.
I felt like we were getting close to the end of the series then BAM. Curveball. All I know is that I’m fully enthralled and can’t wait for more.
