Queen B’s Decree: Nevermore had a really interesting premise; bargaining with gods and being forced into a fake marriage and ✨magic.✨
The world building was a bit much for me. It felt like there were things I was supposed to already understand, and then yet more and more kept getting explained and expanded. I had to push through to get to the action. Once that happened I was much more invested in the story.
Paesha was a hard character to like at first—she is so prickly—but she grew on me the more she let her walls down. Her bickering with Thorne was some of the best parts of the story, I love an enemies-to-lovers dynamic combined with forced proximity or fake relationship.
The magical twist towards the end really surprised me and I wasn’t expecting that ending. Yes, it’s a cliffhanger but it’s the good kind, where I’m still thinking about it and wanting to reread.
Just wish this had been a little bit less of a slow burn…one sexy scene in 650 pages felt like edging to me.
