Queen B’s Decree: The Last Guy On Earth is a second chance trope, so I was anxious while starting. Was there a big miscommunication? A dumb mistake?
Thankfully this one felt natural. Jethro and Clay were 22 and 24 respectively when they last met, and their break-up was really just them both being young, dumb, emotionally insecure people. And I firmly believe that had they been any older (any less damaged), it never would have happened. And that’s why I was definitely rooting for them.
Them having the taboo/forbidden aspect of player and coach just added to the difficulties between them. And it was a long road for them. There was no instant forgiveness, no immediately sneaking around. Both characters put time and effort into themselves and each other and it felt so much more real that way.
Plus the spice was nice too.
As always, Sarina’s books make my heart happy and satisfied.
