Read. Reign. Repeat.

Keep Me in Your Heart by Monica Murphy

Queen B’s Decree: I felt like I might have been out of my depth starting book two in a second generation series, but it actually felt natural. There were a lot of characters introduced but it never felt like I was missing out on what was going on.

Now, I loved the premise of this one. Arabella has been crushing (obsessing is maybe the more accurate term) about Rowan all of high school, but he’s acted mostly indifferent. Never mean or outright rude, but not overly friendly either. But…Rowan thinks about her a lot too, and when she isn’t always around, he starts wondering what’s going on.

I think what I liked about this story is that the 17/18 year olds actually acted their age. Is Bells a little damaged with her parental neglect and reaching out for attention? Yes. But does Rowan act like a kid who doesn’t know how to deal with his feelings? Also yes. It really felt like a realistic way that teenagers fall in love.

This series what I would definitely categorize as “Wealth Adult” in that everyone has a bajillion dollars so I have to suspend some belief, but the emotions and reactions felt real and that’s what I want anyway.

I see that the next book in the series is gonna be my favorite rude grump, and I can’t wait.
