Queen B’s Decree: I lived for the banter in Beg, Borrow, or Steal. Emily and Jack have been rivals for YEARS and it’s like they don’t know how to live without each other, even if all they do is bicker.
As an eldest sibling, Emily was a little too relatable at times. When you’ve been the one that fixes everything, the one that everyone goes to with problems…what do you do when they grow up and don’t need you anymore?
There were so many wonderful facets of this story; feeling safe enough to show vulnerability, knowing it’s okay to ask for help, the desperate yearning Jack and Emily had for each other, the attraction and tension between them (the scene blocking chapter was 🔥). I felt so many emotions while reading, ranging from laughing to crying, to happily smiling while listening.
The narrators both captured Emily and Jack’s energies so well; I felt like I was in Kentucky watching them bicker.
My first read from Sarah Adams but absolutely not my last.
