Read. Reign. Repeat.

Protect by Paisley Hope

Queen B’s Decree: You know, second chance trope can be dicey with me. Usually a miscommunication, or one character makes all the decisions for the couple. But Paisley…somehow Paisley wrote it in a way that it made sense and I couldn’t stop reading.

Grief is a major theme for this entire series, and it’s done so well here. Violette’s twin brother (who was Rowan’s best friend) died years ago but they both still struggle with their grief and how the moment they lost him has shaped the course of their lives. It felt natural and realistic and yet, it didn’t take over the story. I still felt that the romance was the fore-front of Protect.

Rowan is a dirty talker that is such a simp for Violette (and her adorable daughter). It’s a bit of a slow burn, but I totally understood Vi’s hesitations. But even she couldn’t resist the golden retriever energy that Rowan emanates.

Protect was such an emotional read, yet it brings the steam to balance it out. Such a great addition to the series.
