I usually try to pick one favorite book per month to help narrow it down. This time…I had two for the same month and I just couldn’t eliminate either of them. So sorry to the month of March…your books got skipped. So here is my favorite 12 books of 2024, in no specific order.
I don’t have any scientific method for how I decide, I just go by vibes and by how much I’m still thinking about the book (and recommending it to my friends!). Some of these have become permanently imprinted upon my brain and I’m not mad about it.
- Nobody’s Darlin’ by Sarah Blue — can I even make a top reads list without a Sarah Blue book? I don’t think so.
- Hans by SJ Tilly — the series I read on Kindle Unlimited and where I turned off the wifi on my kindle so I wouldn’t have to return it just yet
- Truly, Madly, Deeply by Alexandria Bellefleur — COLINCOLINCOLIN
- Compass Points by Jillian Witt — my first cozy fantasy but definitely not my last
- You Should Be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian — I want to cry thinking about how good this book is
- The Marriage Auction 2 by Audrey Carlan — yah I’m still obsessed with these
- The Quiet Beyond the Well by CW Wren — the most beautifully written, lyrical prose and I keep hearing Calder whisper in my ear
- Voyage of the Damned by Frances White — not sure I’ve ever had such a fun time reading a fantastical murder mystery
- Forgotten Ashes by Kathryn Covens — a book that gave me some nostalgic feels and I can’t stop theorizing the future plot
- A Devil in Every Dark Corner by Amanda Braun Boe — can you believe a non-romance is on this list???
- Burning Ivy by Brandy L. Hynes — a five hundred page chonker that I finished in a day because I literally couldn’t stop reading (RIP sleep)
- Lights Out by Navessa Allen — masks still aren’t my thing but maybe Josh is
So looking back at my 2023 list, and I had wanted to read more fantasy. Welp, I surely did that this year. I’ve changed, folks. I’m a fantasy/romantasy reader now. As Gene Belcher once said, “This is me now!”
