Read. Reign. Repeat.

Bossman by Vi Keeland

Queen B’s Decree: You know, it’s been awhile since I read a Vi Keeland book and Bossman reminded me of why I used to enjoy her books so much.

Reese and Chase were both well-written and well-fleshed out characters. Reese was very relatable; I understand her wanting to separate business and pleasure (especially after her last job!). But who could resist Chase? He was so sure (but not aggressive) in how he wanted her, yet he followed her boundaries and rules.

But also…she saw him coming out of a pool, water dripping everywhere. I admire her restraint.

My only issue is more of a personal preference, and that is the “dead significant other” trope. I know that having a past relationship is normal and not a terrible thing, but in my book fantasies, it’s not my favorite. I know it’s not rational and that Reese (or any FMC in this trope) are not competing with the dead SO, but it sure feels like it.

But even that feels like it was done well in Bossman. Chase’s feelings were really on display here and I do love a man that openly shows his emotions.

Overall, Bossman was a great read that I couldn’t put down and now I need to revisit Vi Keeland’s backlog.
