Queen B’s Decree: Genna somehow has the distinct ability to take a dark topic and make it fluffy and fun.
Whatever Whispers is the story of Quinn and Jack. It’s got a dark academia vibe, with a secret society, a murder, and spooky happenings. And yet, it just felt like a cute little Rom Com? Quinn accidentally falls into Jack’s lap—literally—and becomes his nanny and complains about his teaching…before she realizes he is actually the professor she has never met. *insert laugh track* Except I did actually laugh a lot.
I loved the interactions between the characters. It’s a bit instalovey (which is my jam), and I really dug how obsessed Jack was. He was all in on Quinn, despite that their relationship could ruin his career. It’s a bit of a slow burn, with just enough “will they, won’t they” to keep you hooked. And while I am scare of babies in real life, Sienna was the cutest fictional baby I’ve ever read about.
It was definitely lighter than I expected, but frankly that’s what I like. I wasn’t expecting the twist at the end (I’m ashamed of my inattention to detail). It’s got me hyper focused and ready for the next in the series.
