Queen B’s Decree: I think it’s a truth universally acknowledged that I don’t really love dark romance—MC in particular is iffy with me. And yet, I couldn’t put down wolf.e.
Paisley Hope straddled the line of dark and obsessive with protective and adoring. Wolfe may have done some shmurder at times, but he also is doing what he can to support his community. And he is instantly obsessed with Brinley. She’s a good girl (with a dark inside wanting to come out) who is back in her home town when she runs into the club members and gets embroiled in the goings on.
I think what I loved about this one was that a) yes, there was some bad things going on but b) it never got too dark or crazy. Brinley really evolved as a character, growing a spiny shine and standing up for and protecting herself. Gabriel Wolfe may have been a pushy alpha-hole at times, but he actually pushed Brinley to grow so it felt strangely wholesome?
I really loved their emotional connection and seeing their relationship progress. Absolutely loved seeing Gabe show his vulnerable side.
Overall, I think that wolf.e is a great MC read, but especially for those who don’t usually venture into the dark side.
