Read. Reign. Repeat.

A Holly Jolly Ever After by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone

Queen B’s Decree: I adored the first book, and even though it took me months to finally read this one, I was entranced with the first half and couldn’t stop listening.

But then…it kind of fell apart. Spoilers for anyone but there is a surprise baby trope. And honestly, that really derailed the story line. Winnie has been dealing and processing her trauma from the purity culture she grew up in, so I do understand her issues. I really do. But it still felt extremely disjointed after the raunchy and fun first half.

Both Winnie and Kallum make some dumb decisions at times, and I wonder how they survive as adults at all.

Overall, A Holly Jolly Ever After didn’t have the magic that the first one did for me, but I still enjoyed it…mostly.
