Read. Reign. Repeat.

A Game of Veils by Eva Chase

Queen B’s Decree: A decade or so back, I read and was obsessed with a YA series called The Selection Series. A Game of Veils is basically a bit like that…except with murder? So OF COURSE I read it in one day.

Aurelia is the second-born daughter of a distant kingdom, traveling to Dariu with the intention to marry the Emperor’s only son and heir. Upon her horror, she arrives and the heir apparent decides to hold a contest and a series of tests among twelve local women. But instead of just being kicked out if not chosen…they are killed. Does Aurelia love this guy? No. But she sure does want to live and do all she can to improve the lives of her people.

There’s a weird fostering situation going on in Dariu, so she meets the second-born sons of other kingdoms…and they immediately hate her. Enter: some really good enemies to lovers angst. This is the kind of angst I love. Men realizing they misjudged the heroine and eating their words. Watching them transition from enemies to begrudging allies to lovestruck boys. Ugh, perfect and gets me every time.

I’m dying at this cliffhanger and I don’t know how I’ll survive until the next in the series releases. I can’t even deal with it and I want to talk about it every minute of every day. Please, someone, anyone, TALK TO ME ABOUT THIS BOOK.
