Queen B’s Decree: Summer Kind of Love was a relatively light romance. Avery meets up with her childhood best friend, Logan, and they reconnect one summer after nearly two decades apart.
Avery suffers from (nearly crippling at times) anxiety, and I thought the way her panic attacks were described was very well done. But, she was a little exhausting for me. As this story is told entirely through her own point of view, her feelings of anxiety litter the page. I can empathize with how she’s feeling, but I’m also emotionally drained afterwards.
The romance itself was sweet. I always love seeing childhood friends reunite, it’s definitely a favorite trope of mine.
Overall, a light, summery read, but I struggled and eventually had to DNF.
