Queen B’s Decree: My Begrudging Scent Matches features an extremely stubborn and willful omega, Alice. And man, I freaking love that. Not to be all “not like other girls” but she kinda is unlike other omegas I’ve read about. Hides her designation, wants to have a job, is very anti-pack and settling down; all the things you don’t normally read about in an omegaverse.
Ergo, I loved her.
And yet, while she was stubbornly independent, she did know when to give in and start accepting other people in her life. Even when it’s the boring “I don’t use explanation marks in my emails” Caleb and his more friendly partner, Grant.
Since this was a novella, I did feel like I didn’t get to know Caleb and Grant as well as I did Alice, but I still enjoyed the relationship progression, the spice, and the banter between them all. Gotta say, I am also an over-user of explanation marks in my work emails, so it’s to my surprise that Caleb is was my favorite of the alphas. I loved his vulnerability and his growth.
Overall, My Begrudging Scent Matches was a great read from a debut author and I hope to see more from them.
