Queen B’s Decree: Since the moment I read my first book by F.T. Lukens, I’ve been obsessed and have gone back through all the backlist. In Deeper Waters was my next on that quest.
In Deeper Waters had all the things I love from this author: found family, funny/witty banter, magical world, suspense. The world building is pretty minor, but that’s really the way I like it. I like that the author focuses on the characters and the relationships. Tal was such a great main character; we get to see him evolve from a young and sheltered (maybe spoiled??) teen prince to someone strong, confident, and resourceful.
The romance was pretty cute and sweet, although a smidge instalovey. But hey, I love soulmates and The Little Mermaid so I was all in on basically everything in this story. My favorite part was the interactions between Tal and his siblings. They all just really—really—loved and supported each other.
Another great read from an author that is becoming one of my favorites.
