Queen B’s Decree: Forever Reign is the conclusion to the Elementals of Iona duology, and it starts a few months after Long Live ended. Isla is missing (maybe dead, who knows?!?), Sebastian is trying to fix all the problems done to his kingdom when he was the Dark God, and the Elementals are learning to live as mortals.
I enjoyed the storyline; how each character fit into the story, the world building, and the magic. I loved many of the characters—I would read an entire story of just Kai and Aiden’s love story. I….will say that my favorite male love interest was still Rynn. He’s just so grumpy and broody, literally my kryptonite. While Sebastian was swoony and had the best dialogue, he’s still the runner-up in my heart.
When I first read Long Live, I was just a baby fantasy reader. Well, I’m still kind of a baby fantasy reader, although I’ve got a few more books under my belt by now. That being said, I still struggled with the pacing. I felt like I was waiting for something—anything!—to happen for large chunks of the book.
The ending was satisfying though, and I liked getting insight into all of their futures. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more from V.B. Lacey.
