Queen B’s Decree: Molten Death is a quick and cozy mystery set on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Valerie, our lead, is a retired, nearly 60-year-old who is vacationing with her wife after a traumatic accident and death of her brother. While there, she sees a body being overrun by lava and the mystery of it starts to consume her life.
The plot was relatively slow moving, but you get to learn more of the history of Hawaii and frankly, the descriptions of the food took over my interest at times. Valerie basically puts her nose in everything, turning into a busybody detective, taking her wife along for the ride.
At the end of the day, Molten Death made me want to revisit Hawaii and go get some poke and a mai tai. An enjoyable read for a rainy day.
