Queen B’s Decree: The first book, The Flame King’s Captive, was a slow burn story, focusing on growing the emotional connection of Zabriel and Isavelle. This book…is the opposite of slow burn. Insert bow chicka bow wow music.
While the primary plot and storyline is still progressing, so much of The Flame King’s Bride was focused on the steam. It almost felt like too much, but perhaps it was to help balance out the lack from book one. The smut scenes were fire, and I loved the chemistry between the two, but the political intrigue almost interested me more.
I got sucked into the mystery and adventure of the story; figuring out how to beat the “bad guy,” how to save everyone and the dragons, and who is gonna betray us next. The cliffhanger was a doozy and I don’t know how I’m gonna make it until the next book. I can’t wait.
