Queen B’s Decree: Raise Hell gave me early 2000s CW vibes. Super attractive leads, drama up the wazoo, intense magical world, tons of twists and turns, and—a cliffhanger season ender.
The magical world that Brit created is so immersive. Different witchy classes, vampires, political intrigue, and a mystery to unfold. And I definitely struggled with some of that in the beginning. I’m learning that my brain just can’t handle that much world building. Must be the millennial-undiagnosed-ADHD in me. Do I wish I could visit and hang out with Leigh? Of course. Do I remember the names of the different witches? Of course not.
Leigh and Wilder had a lot of chemistry, although there was so much push and pull. I wish there could have been a bit more relationship development. Their banter was fun and entertaining, but I missed the deep, emotional connection. But the bodyguard trope hits so good, so I was still hooked.
Overall, Raise Hell was an enjoyable read, especially for a debut author. It just missed a few marks for me.
