Queen B’s Decree: I’ve really been on a thriller kick recently, and I used to love watching Cold Case Files, so I knew Ice would be a book for me.
The story follows Chris, a widower and recently retired FBI agent, who has moved back in with his mother and children. But suspicion about a missing girl 20+ years ago still follows him, and he stumbles upon a group of retired “crime analysts,” they help him work on his very own cold case. His search through his cold case intersects with a brand, spanking new murder, and action abounds.
Ice was really a book less about the main character, Chris, and more about the colorful cast of characters around him. But man, they were fantastic. I never thought that a dog would be my favorite part of a thriller or mystery, but here we are. Sterling has so much personality, he’s probably the smartest living being in the book, THE BEST BOY and he deserves all the country music he wants.
Great pacing and well written, Ice definitely kept my interest. The romance was very quick, and didn’t seem to fit, but it didn’t bother me too much. I was super interested with the mystery and the murder and I stayed up way too late to finish “just one more chapter.”
I’d definitely be interested in more from this series. Thank you to the author for my gifted copy!
