Queen B’s Decree: One Last Stop was on my “23 Books in 2023” list, and for some reason, I just kept putting it off. Until I discovered audiobooks. And found out my library had an audio copy.
I didn’t really read the blurb before listening, so I was a little surprised to find One Last Stop was a bit on the paranormal side of things. August meets a cute woman on the subway, and then sees her again on the same subway. Oh, maybe it’s because she can’t leave the subway and hasn’t for 45 years???
The romance was cute but what I really loved were the side characters. August’s roommates were the epitome of a found family, and frankly, Annie Depressant is my spirit animal and I want to meet her. I had to suspend belief a bit a few times, and not regarding the magic-y times. The fact that August would call out of work when she had $23 in her bank account, and that her job didn’t fire her…I don’t think so, dawg.
Overall, One Last Stop was sweet and cute. August was a harder character to relate to, but the side characters more than made up for my lack of interest in her.
