Queen B’s Decree: Good as Gold revisits my favorite small town in Vermont and the Rossi family. But…this one definitely had some second chance trope vibes. Matteo and Leila were best friends as teenagers but Matteo moved away as soon as possible and never really came back.
Matteo comes back to his brother’s wedding after a rough year and runs into a newly-divorced Leila. Their friendship starts up again, except with one twist. Leila wants a baby and Matteo is gonna be her old-fashioned donor, so insert some chemistry and sexy times.
So basically…friends-to-lovers-to-parents. It’s definitely not my favorite trope, but I was still entertained. The banter between them was hilarious, and while this is mostly a light read, I felt it addressed loss and grief well.
Overall, Good as Gold was well written, enjoyable, and an easy read.
