Forbidden: Part One by Emilia Emerson

Queen B’s Decree: I had a mix of feelings regarding Forbidden: Part One. I thought Forbidden was very well written and I found minimal grammar or spelling issues, the plot was interesting, and the world building was intriguing.

But, I found Forbidden to be a very long read. The story felt like it dragged on and much of it could be omitted. I often felt like the same topic was rehashed over and over, without any story development or character growth.

Regarding the characters, I grew weary of Josie. I couldn’t relate to her; she was always crying. CRYING! Even assuming some of this was Omega hormones, it was a lot for me. I had hoped for some personal growth, yet she seems stuck in place, unwilling to go to therapy or work on herself. Josie was like an emotional vampire— taking all the emotional support from her alphas, yet giving nothing back. Her alphas were too perfect, with essentially no flaws. I did love their quirks: romance novel reading, baking, knitting; it was a wonderful change from the typical alphas you see in other omegaverse novels.

Overall, I think Forbidden had great potential, but needed some improvement upon execution.
