Queen B’s Decree: The Lying Woods was a quick and intriguing read. Our main character, Owen, finds out last minute that his father has embezzled from his company and gone into hiding. Owen is forced back to his small town, where everyone hates him and his parents, as their livelihoods are ruined.
But all is not what it seems. The Lying Hours is told simultaneously with present day and alternates with flashback chapters from over 20 years ago, told through Noah’s point-of-view, Owen’s father.
But Noah didn’t seem like the kind of guy who would ruin an entire town? So I had so many questions, I couldn’t stop reading until I had the answers. The twist at the end was not what I was expecting, so that was well done. Truthfully, the ending was a little sad. I felt so bad for multiple characters—so many useless secrets!
An enjoyable and thrilling read.
