Read. Reign. Repeat.

The Perks of Loving a Wallflower by Erica Ridley

Queen B’s Decree: I’ve mentioned it before, but I love the diversity that we’re beginning to see more and more. And realistically, we know there were gay and lesbian relationships back in Regency England, even if everything else portrayed is Jane Austen-esque.

I loved how fun The Perks of Loving a Wallflower was. Fun family antics with the Wynchesters and I really enjoyed the internal monologue of both Tommy and Philippa. Their relationship begins as a friendship with some attraction and slowly turns into more. I adored that Tommy was smitten from the beginning and was literally struck dumb by Philippa. And that Philippa didn’t really start to feel butterflies for anyone until she met Tommy, regardless of her disguise.

I do wish the book cover matched the characters better, as Philippa is more curvy and Tommy is more non-binary with short hair and trousers.

Overall, The Perks of Loving a Wildflower was a fun and easy historical read and I want more.
