Queen B’s Decree: Katee Robert’s Dark Olympus series is definitely very vague regarding the adaptations from the Greek mythology. But let’s be honest—I’m not reading Wicked Beauty for historical accuracy.
Wicked Beauty is the story of Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus. Helen’s brother has been newly named Zeus and has put her up as the prize for the victor in the competition to be the new Ares. But Helen is no damsel in distress, she’s planning to compete to control her own destiny. Her strongest opponents are Achilles and his partner-in-an-open-relationship, Patroclus.
You may see where this is going and it’s the reason I was SO EXCITED for Wicked Beauty. Long story short, there’s something that draws all three together and they fall into this throuple while competing. A) so hot. B) so much hot. C) how sweet it was that they supported each other during the competition.
Helen was severely underestimated, even by her new partners at times. Helen was such a badass mofo and I want to be her when I grow up. Lastly, I think the ending was a little abrupt—I wished for a longer conclusion.
Wicked Beauty was a great addition to the Dark Olympus series and I don’t know if I’ll ever not want more.
