Queen B’s Decree: I think I was biased towards Can’t Help Love just by knowing the trope was second chance…one of my least favorites. We start in the past, when Gatsby and Maia are in college and newly in love. Then Gatsby has a traumatic time in his life and leaves Maia hanging.
I really struggled with Gatsby’s actions. I can understand them to a point, but it felt exceedingly cruel to Maia, so I never really forgave him. And his grovel was supremely lacking for me, so I got annoyed when Maia forgave him.
I did like how they came back together, and how they were able to finally communicate. There were definitely some hilarious moments and I loved seeing the interaction Gatsby had with his siblings.
Regardless, I’m still really interested in the rest of the siblings’ stories!
