Queen B’s Decree: Mother May I started off with a bang. Bree wakes up and thinks she sees a witch staring at her through her bedroom window. She brushes it off as part of a waking dream, until her son is kidnapped right out from under her with a threatening note.
Mother May I answers the question “how far would a mother go to protect or rescue her child?” Bree finds herself doing things she never thought she would and discovers some hidden truths she maybe wishes she never found.
I was on the edge of my seat initially. The action moved so fast, I couldn’t stop reading. The pacing settled after a bit and I did feel the ending was wrapped up a little too quickly.
I appreciated that Mother May I made me think. There were ethical dilemmas, classism, and the philosophical question—is it possible for people to change or can you forgive an evil misdeed?
In the end, I was hooked on Mother May I and I will be looking for more from this author.
