Queen B’s Decree: I was binge watching The Wire when I happily won a signed paperback copy of Charm City Killer. It felt like kismet—a thriller set in Baltimore about a serial Killer? Sign me up.
The story has a few points-of-view, but is told primarily through the eyes of Moe. Moe is a 50-something who is in yellow pages sales during the 2008 economic recession. The apathy and depression from that era was wonderfully captured and conveyed. Vivid descriptions, with interested inner monologues, the Charm City Killer was wild ride.
Charm City Killer managed to do what very few thrillers are able to do: surprise me multiple times. Every time I thought I figured it out, BOOM. Twist.
I was hooked. There were a few grammatical issues but it didn’t detract from the enjoyment or readability of the story.
I’ll definitely be reading more from Josh Petroski.
