Queen B’s Decree: I find the world of omegaverse both intriguing and horrifying. I tried one or two a while back but the domination and dubious consent was not for me. But then I discovered Kathryn Moon and her Sweet Omegaverse series. I’ve since discovered I do like the world of omegaverse…when the characters are sweet and loving.
Vera and the Vegas V fits into that sweet and loving category. I snapped this one up as soon as I saw it.
Vera is an Omega that doesn’t have the best opinion about Alphas (except for her three loving fathers!). She’s a professional soccer player and has just transferred to her new team in Vegas after an incident with her Alpha coach. She meets Gus, a nonbinary member of the team’s PR staff and an Alpha in a pack, and sparks fly between them. She soon meets all the members of the pack (including a sassy, bonded Beta) and almost immediately things start to fall into place.
The relationships between Vera and all the pack move at supersonic speeds. I would have preferred a more gradual progression, as I’m missing some character and emotional development. But Omega and Alpha magic (or hormones!) cannot be denied so Vera and the pack quickly form both a sexual and emotional connection.
The storyline was well paced and I enjoyed the dialogue/banter a ton. The chemistry and sex scenes were seriously on fire but I enjoyed that the emotional aspect of the relationships was not overlooked. My favorite part might have been how Gus was portrayed. I haven’t read any romance novels in recent memory that featured a nonbinary character, so I really loved the inclusion and how well they were written.
A great debut from two new authors and I’m hooked.
