Read. Reign. Repeat.

Finally You by Claudia Burgoa

Queen B’s Decree: Finally You was full of angst. Nydia and Mane were childhood best friends that eventually turned into something more until their relationship abruptly ends. They’ve been apart for 11 years and while both claim to have moved on, it’s clear to us readers that they’re lying to themselves.

Finally You feels a little bit like an enemies-to-lovers trope, since Nydia and Mane can’t be around each other without fighting. It was almost starting to get frustrating, as Nydia had all these secrets that I was dying to learn about. But once she lets it all out and tells Mane what had tragically happened in their time apart, I felt a little deflated. Their breakup is so full of misunderstandings and unfortunate circumstances, it’s painful to read about.

After their discussion, Nyd and Mane essentially jump back into love immediately, which felt unrealistic. What happened felt more like a closure versus a new beginning. Don’t mistake me, everything was well written and sparked plenty of emotions.

Finally You is an emotional but good start to a new series. Looking forward to more!
