Totally Folked by Penny Reid

Queen B’s Decree: Totally Folked started out strong. Jackson and Raquel meet at a wedding in Green Valley and sparks fly. Raquel only has one night before she flies back to LA where she is an actress and she wants to spend it with Jackson. The two click and connect amazingly but as the morning comes Raquel flies away.

Years later Jackson is trying to fit himself into the “small town responsible deputy” box when Raquel comes back into his life. The two seem like they are made for each other, but life seems to get in their way. Jackson was diabetic coma sweet. He was understanding, protective, and so determined to do the right thing. Raquel was less likable, but her inner monologue was funny and seeing her make authentic friends was heartwarming.

Totally Folked was great. But at the end of the day, my favorite parts were the cameos of Cletus. Jackson and Rae were sweet and easy to read, but it felt anticlimactic and long. A great start to a new series by Penny Reid, but not my favorite.
