Darkroom by Kate Willoughby

Queen B’s Decree: Darkroom was refreshingly sweet. Hudson is the hockey god on campus and faces a lot of pressure from his family and his teammates. When he meets Indi in his photography class, he’s happy to meet someone who doesn’t care or know about hockey.

Indi was an interesting character. She was a little bit of the stereotypical “hardworking virgin who has high academic ambitions” but she has a lot more going on. She was adopted in China as an infant and has a port wine stain birthmark – two things that would have her stand out in Vermont. So yes, she could be a little dramatic but I could empathize with her issues and fears.

And Hudson was surprisingly sweet. While we are told of his previous man whore ways, he was devoted to Indi from the moment they meet. I thought their communication skills could use some work, and maybe a bit more groveling, but I enjoyed seeing their relationship evolve and progress.

I wish the ending had been more fleshed out, but Darkroom was enjoyable none-the-less.
