Read. Reign. Repeat.

Halftime by Kim Findlay

Queen B’s Decree: A misunderstanding causes a breakup between Sebastien and Faith, so Seb is really surprised to see Faith at the hockey arena playing for the women’s team a year later. Faith is holding a major grudge until she is told the real story then she and Seb start attempting to be friends again.

Faith was so indecisive and insecure in her own skin. She focused so much on how unfeminine she felt and used that as a reason she couldn’t trust Seb. Even towards then end, when she realizes the consequences of her actions, she still doesn’t really address it. Girl could have benefited from some therapy FO SHO.

Avoiding the relationship, I did find the story interesting. I loved getting the insight into women’s sports and how it compares to men’s. How they share the arena but the women’s team doesn’t even get their own locker room. It made me think more of what sports I choose to watch and support and what that says about me.

Side note: are every hockey parents this unsupportive? This feels like a theme to this series.

Halftime was good but not great but I still enjoyed continuing the series.
