Queen B’s Decree: My Saving Grace took the boss/employee and secret/taboo relationship and turned up the angst.
We met Grace and Jaxson in A Merry Vested Wedding so I knew going into their story that a breakup was coming. Before that terrible time, the romance between the two was so sweet and adorable. Grace is interning and Jaxson is her superior so they keep it secret. And despite Jaxson stating this was a lighthearted fling, his actions are those of a smitten boyfriend.
And then the terrible time happened. And it was truly awful. Jaxson was purposefully mean and yet when he wants Grace back, he just assumes she’ll forget how he played upon her insecurities to deliberately hurt her? His methods on getting her back did not endear him to me. It felt manipulative.
Can I also say I was disappointed with Addie and others in Grace’s family? They basically turned it around onto Grace, making it seem like she was the bad guy. Or that Jaxson was automatically forgiven because “he’s damaged.” Insert eye roll here.
Despite my disappointments, My Saving Grace was still a great read by Melanie Moreland. She always tugs at your heartstrings and sucks you into her character’s lives. I’m looking forward to more from this series!
