Queen B’s Decree: I feel like I’m missing something. I think I’m supposed to be rooting for Kat and Evan to stay together, but I just…can’t.
Kat and Evan are on the verge of divorce and it’s all because of the secrets Evan is keeping. Kat isn’t blameless, as she has become a workaholic and neglected her relationship, but the bulk of the problem lies with Evan.
Evan lives in a world filled with secrets as a “fixer” for the rich and famous. And until now, Kat was okay with being in the dark and burying her head in the sand. She could easily ignore the dark and possibly illegal things her husband has done. But it all comes crashing down when some damning photographs of Evan and another woman are released to the media, forcing Kat to acknowledge and face their problems.
My issue with YKILU is that I didn’t particularly like either Kat or Evan. Kat seemed exceptionally weak, unable to stand up for herself. And Evan was a liar looking for absolution.
The suspense and thrill of Evan’s secrets kept me hooked, but I’m truly hoping for some redemption for both characters in the the second part of the duet.
