Devrim’s Discipline by Brianna Hale

Queen B’s Decree: Devrim’s Discipline was a quick and steamy read, a good start to a new series.

Devrim has been imprisoned for 27 years, and when a political uprising occurs he is released. He’s able to get back his home, money, job, and most importantly, the daughter that was born during his imprisonment. As the country’s court attempts to get back to a new normal, his daughter Aubrey befriends a younger woman Wraye. Wraye is a member of one of the First Families, although she has been living and working in the slums her whole life.

When Wraye is visiting Aubrey and trying on one of her fancy dresses, Devrim walks in and assumes she’s a thief and means to punish her. Yeah, I know, why would you assume the naked woman in your daughter’s bedroom is a thief? Wouldn’t a thief just take the dress and try it on later? But I digress. Aubrey interrupts before any spanking can happen and after that both Devrim and Wraye can’t stop thinking of the other. Their relationship is so taboo and delicious that it’s so enthralling and enticing.

I loved their interactions. Despite their age gap, they seemed to connect so well. Wraye maybe played up a bit of the brat but only during their steamy moments; she was mature and stood up to Devrim during their discussions. Devrim was bossy, but in the best ways.

I only wish there was more resolution to the situation with Wraye’s mother and insight into Wraye and Aubrey’s friendship afterwards. A great start to a new series and I can’t wait for more.
