Queen B’s Decree: I’ve been waiting for Roux and Jordy’s story since they were side characters in Hood River Rat. Roux and Jordy felt inevitable.
Even though Roux is only 17, she’s seen some shit in her young life. So while I hate the “she’s mature for her age” excuse, the small age gap between her and Jordy doesn’t seem insurmountable.
The gangs and criminals we encountered in our first book are unfortunately still present. Jordy, once again, will do anything he can to protect Roux even working with the gang leader, Reynaldo. Roux gets stuck in the middle of it. Her best friend/new boyfriend Kayden is Reynaldo’s brother, and he gets more and more involved. But Roux just can’t break up with him…not without some terrible consequences.
But beyond the suspense and the problems both Roux and Jordy face, their chemistry is the highlight here. Their connection is so tangible, it nearly leaps off the page. Jordy’s sweetness was undeniable; his protectiveness warmed my heart.
The cliffhanger at the end got me. I’m on tenterhooks waiting for more.
