Queen B’s Decree: Fake It ‘Til You Break It is…about a fake relationship that (of course!) turns into a real one. No big spoilers there.
Demi was a wonderful heroine. She had that politeness that we Midwesterners tend to showcase, but she had a backbone made of titanium. I loved reading about a strong heroine that doesn’t fight, or bully others. Demi wasn’t overly mean or fake nice; she really was a decent human being.
Now Nico? I didn’t really care for him for a big chunk of the story. He’s kind of this alpha, possessive male towards Demi, yet his early actions don’t mesh with that mindset. He softens up as he lowers his guard eventually, but I remained skeptical of his trustworthiness.
FITYBI was a slow burn, which highlighted Demi and Nico’s evolving relationship. The drama and angst were nearly overwhelming, but it really helped make the whole story even more magical. Add in some dirty talk and sizzling chemistry and you’ve got a keeper.
