House of Scarlett by Meghan March

Queen B’s Decree: This book was FIRE. If you recall, at the end of The Fall of Legend, Gabriel wham, bam, thank you ma’am’ed Scarlett and told her that he’s no good for her and can’t have her.

Which is obviously hurtful to Scarlett, but her tight knit group of friends (including her ex-stepsister Flynn) rally around her and do what best friends do: threaten Gabe Legend with bodily harm.

Eventually Gabriel comes to his senses, luckily, and he and Scarlett make it back together. The revengemonster inside of me originally wanted a little more groveling from Gabriel, but he truly was torturing himself so I couldn’t bring myself to want more of his pain.

Scarlett continued to be the strong Heroine I know her to be, as she continued to evolve and grow. She’s discovering which relationships matter and which don’t. And even though she’s strong and assertive, Gabriel can’t help but be the protective alpha male he is.

The spice heats up in this second installment, and emotions run deeper. More insight into both of their pasts is revealed as they get closer to each other both emotionally and physically.

And oh, that ending. I should have expected something like this from Meghan March – she is the queen of the cliffhanger ending.

House of Scarlett was a great continuation of the series. Strong, lovable characters with a story line full of suspense and intrigue.
