Queen B’s Decree: My love for Ruby Dixon knows no bounds. Her Ice Planet Barbarian Series is a one-click and must read for me. So it stands to reason that I would also one-click any other books or series she’s written. Not too long ago, the next in her dragon series was released and I realized something.
I’ve never told you about them.
Big fail on my part. BIG. FAIL. The quick and dirty: post-apocalyptic future after dragons have entered Earth and caused a ton of chaos. Humans often live together in “forts” to protect themselves from the attacking dragons. And who’d a thunk it? Humans and dragons can be soulmates! Take a book journey with me…
Fire in His Blood (#1) – The first in the series, and as usual, it’s the weakest. There’s a lot more world building and background information (which is needed tbh) which can be boring to read. Claudia is a hard to like heroine which makes this book drag on (I make me laugh).
Fire in His Kiss (#2) – A better storyline here, as most of the world building is done. Heroine is Claudia’s best friend and I resonated with her more. Her relationship with her dragon felt more fleshed out and detailed.
Fire in His Embrace (#3) – Emma and Zohr were side characters in Book #2. So glad they got their own book. A great look at their relationship as it grows and a better look into the main villain of the drakoni world.
Fire in His Fury (#4) – Gotta admit this one is my favorite (at least, my favorite until Fire in Her Dreams!). Amy is Claudia’s younger sister and seems to be a romantic dreamer. I love watching Amy tame her uncontrollable Rast. It also introduces some new characters and progresses the story well.
Fire in His Spirit (#5) – I felt let down with Gwen; perhaps because she follows my favorite book of the series. Gwen felt weaker than the previous Heroines. Her Dragon Vaan, though, was pretty adorable. The story line progresses well, and we get a new twist regarding our villain.
Fire in His Veins (#6) – A bit different from the previous books in the series, Liam is a dragon in hiding here. He’s been suppressing his drakoni side in order to stay sane and fit in with humans. But what happens when he meets his mate and has to let it out?
Fire in Her Eyes (#7) – Another that deviates from the norm. The Heroine in this story is a dragon, so this is our first couple to feature a human man and female dragon. And maybe that’s why it felt a little off to me? But you’ll want to read if only to see how a human man “challenges” and wins a female dragon!
Fire in His Chaos (#8) – This one brought it all back home to me. Rachel is scarred and disabled from a previous encounter with a dragon, so her turning into “dragon bait” was a neat plot twist. Her relationship with Jurik was sweet and slow burning. And we got to know a little more information about the overall plot and what’s happening with “the bad guy.” Feels like it’s slowing coming to an end!
Fire in Her Dreams (#9) – Jenny and M’hal have become challengers for my favorite couple of the series. Jenny is part of the same “dragon bait” as Rachel was in the previous story, and M’hal first encounters her as he protects her in her dreams. M’hal seemed a little more damaged and Jenny was a bit more sensitive and sweet than the previous Heroines, I couldn’t help but adore them. The countdown to the end is on, and the final story (about Azar, our “bad guy”) is next!
I realize this is exceedingly vague. But I don’t want to spoil it for you all! Give them a try!
