Boys That Tease by Betti Rosewood

Queen B’s Decree: The trope of spring 2019 is definitely bully high school romances. I thought Boys That Tease would be right up my alley! I mean, look at this list:

  • spoiled rich kids
  • hot bully boy that used to be nice
  • secrets, Hollywood style

Unfortunately, Boys That Tease didn’t work for me. The entire cast of characters sounded and acted juvenile and immature (even considering their age). Tinsley was sweet and adorable. As someone who had acted in television shows since she was a child, it was unfathomable how trusting and naive she was. Could she really not see Estella’s true feelings or motives?

And Crispin (aka best nickname ever, Crispy). His motive for bullying Tinsley is weak and ridiculous. He blew very hot and cold, making it hard to understand his intentions and reasons.

Wish there was a little more explanation to the mystery surrounding the Lords of Wildwood, as that could have helped to pull everything together. Overall, Boys That Tease wasn’t the dark bully themed book I was expecting, but more of an angsty young adult novel. Decent read if you know what to expect!
