Queen B’s Decree: I feel like I’m the dissenting opinion here (if I base my thoughts on the rest of Goodreads). But I had a hard time with this book. Exact words Queen J said to me as I ranted:
I haven’t seen you this worked up in a long time. I’m worried and amused.
I think it all boils down to this: I was bored, and then I wasn’t, and then it all went to shit. The Hate Vow also suffers from something Queen J and I like to call TMTS: the Too Many Tropes Syndrome. I’m actually working on a Venn diagram about it, but until that’s done, I’m going to just list the tropes that appeared in The Hate Vow.
- hate-to-lovers
- fake marriage
- second chance
- BDSM
- billionaire
Do you get what I’m saying here? The Hate Vow had too many identities for me, so when you add that + difficult to like characters + overly dramatic cliffhanger ending = Queen B is not a fan.
