The Girl Who Gave Him The Moon by Ji Soo Lee

Queen B’s Decree: Here’s a secret you may not know about me.

I like K-Pop.

I feel like it might not be super surprising. But there it is. Thus, Ji Soo Lee has become one of my new favorite authors due to her reverse harem K-Pop series and this adorable YA K-Pop series.

The Girl Who Gave Him The Moon is technically the second in the series, but the first is a novella that feels more like a prequel/introduction. Our main characters are Lucinda/Luna and Minhyuk/King; both are high schoolers who met at a summer dance academy as children. Lucinda is our blonde American, trying to fit in at a South Korean school and King is our Idol, trying to redeem himself and make it in the entertainment world.

Ji Soo Lee does a great job explaining the “idol” world and typical South Korean Customs. Additionally, she gives recommendations on real life K-Pop songs that make you feel like you are living the story.

Watching King and Lucinda comes to terms with their relationship and feelings is adorable and sweet. And the side characters make you want to read more and more. The friendships and interactions just make this story so relatable. Looking forward to book #3!
