Queen B’s Decree: I don’t know why I thought this would be a comedy. The blurb doesn’t mention funny at all. We have the best friend’s older brother trope – perhaps I expected a rom-com purely due to this?
Regardless, The Paris Apartment was not light nor fluffy.
Both our Hero James and our Heroine Mila have complicated pasts that are intrinsically affecting their futures. I appreciated the details of their pasts – it really helped me understand the characters’ mindsets better. I will admit, I didn’t get into their story towards the beginning. James seemed too flippant, too nonchalant. While Mila was the opposite: too uptight and naive. But as I continued on, both characters seemed to grow, and the story got more interesting.
I’m just going to say it; I’m not a fan of characters keeping major secrets from each other. This occurred in The Paris Apartment and was my only major complaint. Still an enjoyable read, and I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
