Midnight Blue by L.J. Shen

This book made me so happy. Sometimes I start a book and don’t have high expectations. Or I’m in a grumpy mood and just don’t expect anything in life to be good. I think it took ten pages for this book to grab my interest and show the extreme chemistry that Alex and Indy have. I loved how the author walked the love/hate line so well, while slowly unfolding both of their histories. There are a lot of wonderful supporting characters and story lines that make the book feel well rounded and story driven. I will warn that towards the end there is some D/s stuff. If you are someone that absolutely hates that type of story,it might be upsetting to get invested and then suddenly have it show up at the end of the book. I found those scenes to be mild and enjoyable, but it was unexpected. Alex’s redemption story was tumultuous and touching. There were no easy answers and the author didn’t take any short cuts in getting the characters what they deserved.
After this, I am definitely adding L.J. Shen to my must-read author list.
